– What are you thankful for this year? Listen to this episode and I’ll share some of mine. We’re at the end of the year, it’s been a crazy couple of years here, not just one crazy year, a crazy couple of years, and ups and downs, and things are busier than they should have been longer than they should have been. And well, maybe after 2022, we’ll never be this busy again. And that’s probably a good thing. So what are we thankful for? We’re thankful for that we’re all standing right now. We’re thankful because there are too many of us who have lost friends and family and heard about people in the industry, that we might not have known personally, but have touched us in some way and we’ve lost them.

So, we’re thankful that we’re here, and thankful that we’re able to keep sharing and keep doing what we do. I’m always thankful for my health. For those of you who read my book, “Your Attitude for Success,” know that it has not always been the best. I always say that I look better in person than on paper. So that’s something to be thankful for. I know that he’s listening to this as editing it, but I’m thankful for Richie Steadman. Richie came to me earlier in the year and said, “Alan, I could listen to you all day long. How come you don’t have a podcast?” And it’s because of him that we created this. So, Richie, as you’re editing this, thank you so much my friend for making me do this. I say, making me do this, you didn’t make me do this. You convinced me that it was time to do it.

So, I’m very thankful for that. We’re well over 30,000, 31,000, I think as I’m recording this, downloads just since April 1st, to the end of the year. That just blows my mind away. So mostly I’m thankful for you, you that are listening. I really, really appreciate the fact that of all the things you took your time to do, whether it’s just this episode or any of the other episodes and taking your 10 minutes or 15 or 20 with a guest episode and listening to that, you can do a lot of things with your day and you’re giving that time, so thank you, thank you so much. I’m thankful for the feedback that I got, not just on the podcast, but on my speaking, on my books, and how it’s impacted you, because that is what keeps me going. I’m listening to a book now, “Give and Take,” by Adam Grant. He’s got a great podcast. He’s got some other great books I’ve listened to. And talking about givers, being givers and takers. And you know, the more that I give, the more feedback I get from you, the more it energizes me.

And I think you guys get to see that, many of you on the day of a wedding. You get to see the fruits of your labor. If you’re the caterer, if you’re the venue, if you’re the DJ, if you’re the planner, the photographer, videographer, you get to see that. I don’t often get to see it, especially with podcasting and with webinars and speaking to a big conference like wedding MBA, and having hundreds or over a thousand people in a room. I don’t always get the feedback, but you come to me and tell me how it’s affected you. And it makes my efforts just that much more worthwhile to me. So, thank you for that. And what are you thankful for? You know, please share those with me. What do you have to be thankful for?

We’re thankful that if you’re still in business after the last two years, that should be something to be really, really thankful for. I’m thankful that what this has taught us is that we can live on less and live comfortably, and that’s good that we don’t need as much stuff, that’s also great. And it’s helped us remember what’s important. It’s certainly been great for our marriage, I mean, we not only like each other, we love each other and like each other, and having been away most of 2019, and then being home for 16, 17 months, it showed that our relationship is just that much stronger. So thank you to my lovely wife. Who’s probably not listening to this because she hears me all the time, and my family. And what else are you taking the time to be thankful for? What is it in your life that you didn’t appreciate, that you now do? That you’re going to appreciate more, that you’re going to spend more time on because of whatever happened.

And I don’t want to get too sappy on this, but just in general, we have a lot to be thankful for. You know, they say that, you know, getting old stinks, but it beats the alternative. Well, you know, let’s go with getting old, it’s okay. But, an old saying that I remember, I live by, is:”You can’t help getting older, but you can’t help growing older.” And another great saying: you know, “We don’t stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stopped playing.” So I’m going to keep this one short, just again, thank you so much for tuning in. Thanks for your suggestions, please make suggestions. I love your suggestions on topics, and I do record those. And what else is it that I can do to help you? You can help me by telling me that, and then I can bring that back to you. So, Happy New Year, happy holidays. I hope 2022, lets you take a little bit more of a breath and appreciate all the extra business you have this year and get yourself ready for 2023. We’ll talk about more of that in the new year, but thank you so much for listening, and hope to see you again soon.

I’m Alan Berg. Thanks for listening. If you have any questions about this or if you’d like to suggest other topics for “The Wedding Business Solutions Podcast” please let me know. My email is [email protected]. Look forward to seeing you on the next episode. Thanks.
